Hattie Larlham spotlights ability for Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month

March is Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month. This nation-wide celebration is a great opportunity for you, our friends, donors and volunteers to help create awareness and support our mission.

This month, we’re putting the spotlight on ability. We’re using the color yellow to represent every one we serve and everything they CAN do.
Yellow is vibrant. Yellow is energetic. Yellow is the color of ability.
Share our posts on FacebookTwitterInstagram and LinkedIn. Show your family and friends you support people with disabilities, but more importantly, you believe in ability.

Wear Yellow to show you believe in ability – March 7, 2018

On Tuesday, March 7, Hattie Larlham asks people to show their support and wear yellow for ability. A yellow garment such as a shirt, jacket or pants or a yellow accessory like a scarf, necktie or socks shows support for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Take a selfie while wearing yellow and post it to your social media accounts with #yellowforability. Hattie Larlham will monitor its Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and LinkedIn accounts throughout the day to like, share and retweet your posts.

By doing so, you help us to create opportunities for the people we serve to discover their abilities. With your help, we can transform ‘you can’t do this’ into ‘I Am Able’ for children and adults with disabilities. Hattie Larlham creates opportunities for 1,700 children and adults with disabilities to live, learn, work, play and thrive in their community.

Support work training for people with disabilities

When you bring your dog to play or stay at Hattie’s Doggie Day Care and Boarding, you create work training opportunities for adults with disabilities. If  your company is looking for dedicated, hard-working and able candidates, learn more about our work training services and Hattie Larlham’s I Am Able campaign.
